Cryopreservation and Its Application in Aquaculture

Aquaculture is the major aquatic animal production segment. Problems like inbreeding depression, genetic drift, introgressive hybridization, etc. have been influencing of quality seeds negatively. Cryopreservation serves as a way-out for these problems and possible answer to produce genetically improved varieties. It has considered strategy conservation fish resources. gametes in vogue since 1953 technology well studied validated many species. So far milt 200 species cryopreserved successfully. In this chapter, importance aquaculture overcoming malnutrition, issues affecting seed production, cryopreservation protocol employed various species, faced cryopreserving eggs embryos future discussed.
